India is the only country comprising of various religions and traditions having their own cultures and customs. All different wedding ceremonies have their own importance and beauties. In every wedding the most common thing is the bride is the important highlight of the ceremony. These are some of the weddings.
Maharashtrian wedding: In Maharastrian wedding you will come across colorful culture and are filled with rituals though simple yet vibrant. They celebrate the wedding for three days which includes pre and post wedding rituals. These rituals are really amazing that will mesmerize the spectators. They have pre-marriage ceremonies where they organize a function in which the bride and groom together are pampered with the application of turmeric where the friends and relatives shower gifts and money over them. On the wedding the main ceremony is processed by tying a wedding knot between the bride and the groom where they pledge lifelong partners. The performer of the rite will say some mantras and the couple has to repeat it. Later the couple takes the blessing from their elders to start a new life altogether.
Gujarati wedding: Gujarati wedding is the most interesting wedding ceremonies in India. Even their marriages are full of rituals and poojas. They have traditional ritualistic pattern. Gujarati wedding indeed is a grand affair and are extravagantly celebrated over a span of week. The post marriage ceremony begins with Bidai ceremony where the bride is sent along with the groom to his place.
Bengali wedding: One of the most meaningful and interesting wedding where each and everyone enjoy with each other with love and affection. Pre-wedding ceremony starts with Vridhi pooja in the remembrance of the ancestors of the bride and groom. Then start with traditional rituals. On the wedding day the groom is welcomed with a plate called bharan dala by touching to the grooms and brides forehead then do the saptpadi and exchange garlands and the bride is given to the groom. The post marriage ceremony is where the couple is given delicious food and in the morning a ritual called Bashi Biye takes place where the groom applies vermilion on the brides forehead and then bidai takes place.
Punjabi wedding: Punjabi weddings are quite fun and popular for their pomp and show. Their wedding is conducted very lavishly and celebrated with gaiety. Their wedding comprise of traditional bhangra dance and Giddas. At first there is a Roka ceremony that is commitment from both sides. On the wedding day the bride is given red and white bangles to wear by her maternal uncle, is believed to be very sacred. The father of the bride offers kanyadaan and followed by Pheras around the fire. After this the groom throws a grand reception.
Tamil wedding: Tamil wedding comprises of several rituals and has to be performed without which their marriage is termed incomplete. In this wedding giving and taking of gifts are more compared to other weddings. The other rituals remains the same and the groom ties mangalsutra and puts vermilion to the bride and goes round fire seven time to be life patners. You will find all dressed up in heavy sarees and gold ornaments where every lady will flaunt.
Muslim wedding: Known as Nikah differs from the hindu wedding. Rituals as per Indian culture give and take of gifts are done before and after the Nikah with haldi, mehendi, etc. Here to perform the Nikah the Maulvi will ask the bride and groom 3 times whether she or he accepts the groom/bride as her husband/wife and only after getting their consent the marriage is completed. The most important thing is the Meher that is the settled amount given by brides father to the groom. Muslim marriage is somewhat a contract marriage.
All the Indian wedding is based on the regional cultures but the basics remain the same.
