7 Tips to maintain healthy, thicker and longer hair!

They say that a woman’s hair add exceptionally to her beauty. Many of the sacred books and the religious beliefs believe in the idea that hair is the most charming and alluring part of a woman’s beauty.

Today’s modern life has made our life easier but at the same time has degraded the quality of our hair. The dust, smog and pollution make our hair dull and damage the hair quality.

Nevertheless, the show must go on!

You can protect and improve the quality of your hair through various ways. Mentioned below, are seven tips to maintain healthy, thicker and longer hair:

  1. Protected heat styling:

Girls, we all understand how dear heat is styling to all of us. Curling, straightening, crimping and even drying is some of the common ways in which heat styling is done. The simple solution to protect your hair is to not go for heat styling at all. There are organic ways through which you can style your hair like rollers, towels and other effective measure. Various DIYs simplifying hair styling has made our lives even easier. However, if you do decide to go for heat styling, because the fact is that it is more long-lasting, less hectic and quicker, then there are certain measures you can take while heat styling your hair:
    • Apply serums- they quicken the process and form a protective layer on your hair.
    • Apply heat protective sprays- this is one of the most important measures. Heat protective sprays form a tougher layer around your hair and protect them from heat.
    • Wait until your hair is completely dry and then heat style them. This does not stop your hair from being damaged due to heat styling but sure does reduce the damage.

Examples of hairstyles that do not require heat styling:
    • Buns
    • Puffs
    • Braids
    • Updos
    • Ponytails

  2. Professional care:

One of the most effective ways to protect your hair from damage and to improve the quality of your hair is to rely on professional care. The experts know best. They can understand the quality of your hair and give them the care they need. Monthly hair spas, hair trimmings and regular hair treatments, in case of excessive damage will help cure the hair and result in healthier, longer and thicker hair. Although this method/tip requires a huge investments but the return on investment is guaranteed.
Now days, the salons have come up with organic products and treatments that reduce the use of chemicals that have made the professional treatments long term and more effective.

  3. Healthy eating habits:
There is a famous saying, “Charity begins at home.” This quote becomes all the more important in today’s time. One needs to take care of herself. Both women and men have started to spend a lot on salons, cosmetics and other beauty products, however, a simple and easy trick is to adopt healthy eating. You eat healthy food- fruits and vegetables, and your internal system, skin and hair will automatically become healthier.
Some food products that you can eat in order to make your scalp healthier, voluminous and longer:
    • Fresh juice (avoid drinking pressed and packed juices)
    • Eggs – provides proteins and is best for hair growth
    • Spinach – rich in iron, vitamin C and vitamin A, initiate hair growth and repair
    • Fish – omega 3 fatty acids source that ensure thick hair
    • Avocados – rich in vitamin E, best for hair growth.
    • Sweet peppers – provides vitamin A that aids and repairs the damaged hair

  4. Condition your hair:
Conditioning and keeping your hair hydrated is very important. Therefore, make sure that you apply conditioner every time you shampoo your hair. Regular conditioning helps smoothen the rough and dry hair. Sometimes, a branded conditioning product is not enough and barely does anything to protect and/or repair your damaged hair. Nevertheless, you can use some cheap, homemade, chemical-free products in place of expensive, processed branded conditioners:
    • Vinegar, honey and egg:
Make and apply a paste using two to three eggs, a tablespoon of honey or more depending upon the length of your hair, and a spoon of olive or coconut oil.
      Duration: 10-15 minutes
    • Egg and yogurt:
Make and apply a paste of an egg (or two, depending upon the length of your hair) and sic tablespoons of yogurt.
      Duration: 25-30 minutes
    • Aloe Vera, coconut oil:
Make a paste using 5 tablespoons of Aloe Vera, 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil and 2 tablespoons of honey. Apply this paste on your scalp and hair.
Duration: 15-25 minutes Tip: Massage your hair using your fingertips for at least 5 to 6 minutes.

  5. Take good care of chemically treated hair:
It has become a most common trend to get hair chemically processed or treated. Hair treatments and services like hair colouring, rebounding, smoothening have become highly popular. These treatments sure do improve the appearance of your hair but the chemicals and the process itself can damage your hair cuticle. However, this damage can be contained with regular care. Care of chemically treated hair can be taken in various organic ways by using and combining elements readily available at home, like:
    • Curd, egg and oil:
Make a paste using two eggs without yolk (or more, depending upon your hair length), 2 tablespoons of curd and a tablespoon of oil.
      Duration: 25-40 minutes
    • Mayonnaise and oil:
Take 5-6 tablespoons of mayonnaise and mix it with 2-3 drops of essential oil. Apply this mixture on the treated hair and specially on the coloured hair.
Duration: 20 minutes Tip: Massage your hair with oil at least twice a week.

  6. Ayurveda hair products:
The whole country trusts Ayurveda. These are organically produced products with the minimum amount of chemicals and higher results. The Ayurveda products provide help with multiple hair problems like damage, breakage, low-growth, hair loss, etc. There are various brands that manufacture Ayurveda products, therefore the consumer has a variety to choose from. The well- structured and extensive research done on the formation and production of the hair products, help solve the problem of hair loss and low hair growth.

  7. Bedtime tactics:
It is scientifically proven that the skin rejuvenates the most at night, during sleep. There are certain trips and measures that you can avail before going to bed:
    • Comb your hair at least once- a light combing to free the knots.
    • Tie your hair- it is advised to not leave your hair open while sleeping as they become more prone to breakage.
    • Don’t braid your hair too tight.
    • Use satin or silk pillow covers- these moisturize your hair and reduce hair breakage due to friction.

Cheers to having 365 good hair days every year!

I started writing on this blog in November 2011, with a keen interest with Indian Ethnic Fashion, Since I didn't have any experience or could not get an entry-level position or an internship, I made the decision for blogging to demonstrate my writing talents as well as my love of Indian Ethnic fashion. I posted my Indian style ideas and suggestions that help others try something new and to have fun in their clothes, regardless of Size. I generally disagree with the fashion standards of most people and do not believe in wearing clothes that fit your body shape.
