Fun with Fashion: Minion Nail Art

-

Fashion is what fashion does. Fashion is a way of expression – a means of experimentation. A common notion of the meaning of fashion is perceived as a popular style of clothing. The word ‘popular’ in itself suggests a trend that has been caught on by a majority of people. It is followed by a majority of a particular section.  But, is that all that is.

Fashion in its true sense is limitless. It is what defines you as an individual. It is something that makes you happy. It is something that reveals a little bit about your attitude and ideas by just a look in your direction. It is, in its simplest form a reflection into what you like or believe. It is about letting your guard down and time and again having fun with its collaboration.

So, why stick to the norms. Take a break. Be different. Be you. Embrace your inner child. Ask yourself what you like and flash that facet with confidence and sass. Use your quirkiness and turn it into art. Start with baby steps. Don a Minnie Mouse scarf or a colourful set of accessories with your favourite colours. Wear your Teddy Bear hat or get those minions on your nails. (And before we proceed any further, a little insight into my choice of character. I opted for the minions because I personally love their annoying rant and the humour surrounding them. It could be Powerpuff Girls or Tom and Jerry for you.) Characters may change, the idea remains the same.

So moving on, while the first three tasks are fairly easy to accomplish, do not let your thoughts falter at the minion nail art. We, at Styleshaala present to you the easiest way to flaunt your craziest little piece of art. It’s time to let your hair down, put your fingers out and have some fun.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Yellow Nail polish

Silver Nail Polish

White Nail Polish

Black Nail Polish

Blue Acrylic Paint

Small brush

Small Dotting Tool

Small Painting Brush

Artificial Nails (Optional) – You can do the art on your own nails

THE PROCESS

Step 1: Apply yellow Nail polish

Apply a dark coat of polish. Let it dry completely before moving on.

Step 2: Apply the Blue Acrylic paint

Use a thin, small brush to paint the nail. Watch the video to look at the design. Do not spread the paint too much or it will lead to different shades of the same colour.

Step 3: 3D Effect Eyes for the Minion

Use the silver nail paint to make a pair of eyes. Just gently touch the nail paint brush on your nail.

Use the white paint next to make a smaller dot on either drop.

Use a dotting tool to spread the colour evenly in the shape you want. You can use a toothpick in place of the dotting tool .

Finally, use the black nail paint last to add the final coat to the eyes. Ensure that the dots keep getting smaller and do not merge within.

Hold the brush in a horizontal position and apply light pressure.

Step 4: Minion dollar smile

Use the thin paint brush or a stroke brush or a pen to complete the nail art with a smile. Use the black nail paint to make a thin smile of the minion.

To make the nail art more elaborate, you can use the brush to add eyelashes to the eyes on either side. Use the black nail paint to add 2 or 3 strokes. Watch the Video to look at the design.

IMPORTANT #STYLESHAALA TIPS

  • Experiment with colours

You can experiment with colours to make different characters of art.

  • Use brighter colours

Dull colours do now show very clearly, especially the minute details.

  • Ensure that the nail paint is completely dried up

Patience is the key for any kind of nail art. Let each coat dry before adding to it.

I started writing on this blog in November 2011, with a keen interest with Indian Ethnic Fashion, Since I didn't have any experience or could not get an entry-level position or an internship, I made the decision for blogging to demonstrate my writing talents as well as my love of Indian Ethnic fashion. I posted my Indian style ideas and suggestions that help others try something new and to have fun in their clothes, regardless of Size. I generally disagree with the fashion standards of most people and do not believe in wearing clothes that fit your body shape.
