Google Plus: It’s not what you think

0

I am assuming that you are already aware of what Google Plus is. If not, go checkout https://plus.google.com/ today.

Most people think that Google plus is going be to just another product that google will throw in dead-pool soon. You’re mistaken.

Google is integrating plus into every other product that it owns including their core product – Google Search. Google calls it ‘Search Plus Your World’ (SPYW).

You ask – Why should I bother ?

SPYW means that when someone in your network is searching for jewellery your links will appear in search results if you have +1’d them which means it has great potential to multiply your reach.

Thus you should +1 your links, ask your friends to +1 them too increase the reach of your products greatly.

Action Step 1: +1 your links so that folks in your network can find them.
Note – if you don’t have +1 button integrated – don’t worry. Go visit google.com and then type ‘site:mirraw.com’ – replace mirraw.com with relevant domain and +1 those links.

Action Step 2 (optional): Create google plus page here:https://plus.google.com/pages/create

Note: If you are registered Seller on Mirraw – all the products have +1 button added to it.
Once you have uploaded products on your boutique click on plus one.
Be generous, like other designers products and they in turn will like yours.

Pinterest for Designers

0

Pinterest has been very new in this much hyped social media market. However, you would be naive to dismiss it as just another social media site. Early research seems to indicate that Pinterest.com drives lot of traffic to websites.

Pinterest users create something called as boards on which they pin things they like. We (Mirraw.com) have created separate boards for Necklaces, Bracelets and so on. Users who like your designs can choose to either follow you (in turn all your boards) or a specific board.

Action Step 1: Create few boards that depicts your interest.

If you have a website or blog or any other place where you are showing your products, consider adding ‘pin it’ button. Unlike facebook, every design that you will pin from your website on pinterest will have link back to your website.

Action Step 2: Pin your favorite designs on pinterest.

Note: If you are registered seller on Mirraw.com then above every product you will see pinit button. Click on those and add your designs to your boards.

Pinterest is not only for pinning images, you can pin videos too. So if you have videos already created – go ahead and pin them on pinterest now.

What’s the fun, if you don’t have followers ?

Action Step 3: Promote your pinterest account through other channels (facebook / twitter/ LinkedIn). Start following people who you think will follow you back.

Note: When you follow user, pinterest sends an email to the user with a link to follow you back.. so in our opinion it will be useful to follow users rather than just boards.

Post your link to pinterest board here so that Mirraw.com can start following you.

You probably have spotted this before on the exquisite thread-work on your mom’s silk saree, or on your grandma’s studded broach, or in the intricate mehendi on a bride’s hand.  Be it the association of the bird with Goddess Laxmi in India or with Hera the Greek Goddess of Heaven, the peacock as a symbol of beauty, grace and elegance is pervasive across cultures. What is particularly striking about this piece of jewellery is that it not only derives it’s inspiration from the color palette of the peacock’s deep sapphire neck but it also delicately & holistically captures the beauty of the bird’s crest, eyes and plumage in the design. The peridot green drops accentuate the exquisiteness of the design and adds volume to the otherwise delicate pattern. This festive season team this set with a plain outfit either a shade of blue, bronze or green in a rich fabric to don a traditional yet classy evergreen look.

The Road to Success

Talent is a combination of skill and perseverance. Ask any gifted person and they will tell you that they acquired their gifts with hard work and constant refining of their skills. All of us start somewhere in our profession and the ones who lead the race are the ones who learn the most. In an ideal world, success might have been a direct result of talent. Unfortunately in the world that we live in, that is seldom the case. Opportunity and circumstance have a role to play in shaping our futures. In such a world, talent could get easily lost in the crowd of mediocrity, toiling endlessly unnoticed.

Tough is the world of art and design where the barriers are high, the rewards low and the road long. Great creativity sometimes never sees the shine of more than a few eyes. Few dare to brave the difficult world of self-employment. Designers who launch their independent labels end up spending a lot of time and money, reaching out to an audience. Building a brand, as anyone who has ever tried it, would know is a herculean effort.

Imagine a place where every designer gets a chance to showcase their best creations to the whole world and be recognized by the people. A place where talent is the only criteria for success, a platform based on meritocracy. Any artistic individual only need upload his work and get instant feedback from a community centered on fashion. We wish to build such a platform. And we took the first step last week. Take a look. http://www.mirraw.com
