15 Game-Changing Denim Hacks Every Girl Should Know!

0

Girls sometimes have a problem with jeans. They usually don’t fit them in the right places. They often have to cuff them or hem them. This is a temporary solution that works well for a short period of time but if you want a permanent solution to your denim distress, these 15 game-changing hacks are going to help you big time.

  1. UPDATE AN OLD DENIM JEANS: There are many ways you can add a modern look to an old pair of jeans that involves cutting and ripping them but one of the simplest ways is to add polka dots using a bleach pen or white fabric paint. Just make sure you apply 2 – 4 coats so that the color doesn’t come off during the wash.
    UPDATE AN OLD DENIM JEANS

  2. CUT THE KNEES FOR A MODERN LOOK: The knees of the jeans become unraveled after some days. Make a small slit across both the knees and cut them. Use tweezers to pull the threads to distress the slit. You can do this all the way up to the thighs.
CUT THE KNEES FOR A MODERN LOOK

  3. CUFF YOUR JEANS IF THEY SEEM TOO LONG OR SHORT: If you have a pair of skinny jeans that are a bit too long, cuff them under and pin them. If you have a short pair of jeans, cuff them over and leave them.

  4. SET THE DYE:  Dark blue jeans are dyed to give them the look. In case during the wash, the dye comes off, immediately take out the jeans and put them in plain water and sprinkle a tablespoon of salt on them. Salt will help the dye to set and then you can wash the jeans without washing off the color.

  5. HEM TAPE IS A MUST HAVE: Jeans go well with all types of footwear provided that the jeans have an appropriate length. Use the hem tape to give your jeans the correct length.

  6. FIX THE AWKWARD FIT: Sometimes the jeans fit so snugly around the hips and thighs but the waistband of the jeans can be way too loose. You can simply resize the waistband with elastic. Cut about 2 – 3 inches of elastic and sew them over the waistband. The trick here is to sew them stretched so when you leave the elastic it tightens up the waistband.

  7. SKIP THE WASH: Jeans look a bit faded and washed out after some washes. To avoid this, fill your jeans in a plastic bag, seal them and throw the bag in the freezer. This is not exactly a wash but it will definitely kill bacteria and odor from the jeans. However, if you want to suck the dirt out of the jeans, you will have to wash it.

  8. SEW PATCHES ON THE CHAFFED AREAS: Jeans around the inner thighs and knees become chaffed due to friction. Cover them up by sewing patches over them. This will also give your jeans a new, trendy look.

  9. SEW PATCHES OVER POCKETS: Sew a cool fabric over the pockets of your jeans to overhaul them.

  10. SIZE IS JUST A NUMBER: There are different styles of jeans and different brands as well. The same size of different style jeans or brand may not fit you. The key here is to try them before you purchase them.

  11. WASH IN COLD WATER: Jeans have a tendency to shrink when washed with hot water. Throw them in cold water to wash them. Also, don’t blow dry them. Hang them to air dry.

  12. DON’T WASH DISTRESSED DENIM IN THE MACHINE: If you throw distressed denim in the washing machine, more likely they will shrink and will not look cute afterward. Try hand washing your distressed denim or reshape distressed denim with a steamer if you earlier put them in the washing machine.

  13. ZIP UP: Rarely do we see the zipper on the jeans staying up, exactly where it should be. To keep the zip up, pass a key ring through the zip. Before buttoning, pull the key ring up and latch it onto the button. Then button the jeans and your zip will always stay up.

  14. LOOSEN THE WAISTBAND: If you are unable to button the jeans because the waistband is way too tight, just spray some water on the waistband and around the button. Wait for 2 minutes and try again. The waistband will become lose and you will be able to button up your jeans.

  15. RECYCLE OLD JEANS: Put some bleaching powder in water and soak your old jeans in it overnight. Wash it and you will be able to see a brand new design on your old jeans.

    1. AVOID DELAYED SHOPPING
Your wedding day is so close, and haven’t started with your shopping yet? To find the perfect and beautiful wedding dress, it’s extremely crucial to start the shopping for the wedding dress prior to the wedding date, at least 10 months before (in case you aren’t willing to purchase readymade dress).

If you start shopping early for the dress, you will get many options to discover, enough time to ponder over the designs and patterns you need on the dress and most importantly, you will save money or extra charges which are usually incurred at the last moment fittings and alterations.

    2. DON’T BRING TOO MANY GROUPIES/COMPANIONS
While going for shopping for your bridal dress, make sure that you don’t go with the negative and jealous people. Keep the group of friends or family small, but they should be honest, understand your style and helpful in choosing the best wedding dress for your special day.

If you are taking a group of people along with you, then it will definitely be going to stressful and you will be in an enigma while choosing the right dress. Hence, it is advised that keep it small and avoid taking insecure people along with you at that time.

    3. SHOPPING WITHOUT ANY FRAME OF REFERENCE
Another mistake which usually happens with the brides is that they start discovering the styles and designs in a wedding dress without framing any context in mind. You should be very clear about your bridal dress like what exactly you are looking for in the wedding dress.

Moreover, the setting of the wedding is equally important while selecting the wedding dress. Therefore, before entering the store, take along with you some notes and images of the wedding dress to get some help.

    4. UNREALISTIC BUDGET
Determining the budget before going to the shopping for the wedding dress is extremely essential. Without planning about the budget of your bridal dress, you may likely to spend more than your needs or requirements.

In addition, there are many other expenses on wedding dress like alteration charges, accessories, dry cleaning and preservation of the dress after marriage. Therefore, keep in mind the expenses and prepare a budget accordingly.

    5. DON’T TRY TOO MANY DRESSES

Thus, if you don’t have enough budget and time, then it’s useless to think about it anyway.

    7. PURCHASING EVERYTHING AT ONCE CAN BE PROBLEMATIC
The most important thing to keep in mind while purchasing the bridal dress is ‘Do not purchase everything all at once.’ Most of the times, the designer or the stylist will suggest you to purchase the accessories, jewellery, shoes, and other items matching with the look.

Without any doubt, you will get trapped in their lucrative offers. Hence, don’t be in a hurry and before finalizing the add-ons, just ensure that it’s exactly right for your look.

    8. DON’T PLAN FOR FUTURE
If you are thinking that purchasing a smaller size of the wedding dress while planning about the future to lose weight, then my dear, you are absolutely wrong.

Just to get fit into the dress isn’t everything and even after the alteration, chances are you might not be satisfied with the look. Therefore, don’t purchase a bridal dress according to the future body posture it will be a huge mistake.

    9. DON’T PUT TOO MUCH VALUE ON OTHER’S OPINION
Generally, if you are shopping for the wedding dress, advise, suggestions and opinions are important. However, believing your choice and instinct should be your prominent and foremost priority.

You should consider the opinions of other people, but ultimately, your opinion about your wedding dress and its suitability should matter the most.

    10. NARROW MINDED APPROACH

Lastly, some brides have a set approach towards their wedding dress. In simpler terms, they know what they are looking in the wedding dress, but may not be aware of the styles and patterns of the latest designs. Therefore, it is recommended that keep an open mind while purchasing the bridal dress such as the type of lace, embellishments, skirt pattern, different style of sleeves etc.
