We proud Indian are celebrating our 68th Republic Day. We have been celebrating Republic day since 1950 and just like every year this year also brings you warm greeting on this special and auspicious day. After being under the rule of British government for almost 100 years, republic India was born on 1950 26th January. The last ties between Britain and India were cut down on this day, which brought together one union and one Constitution. This takes the responsibility of working towards the welfare of every citizen of the country.

Our great leaders and freedom fighters were able to fight with the British government and bring freedom and our republic country, but we are still fighting with so much violence and crimes today. Now, you cannot blame Britian government for the crime rate in India. Even after being successful in bring independence to India, we are unable to see terrorism free country. This is where we are being pulled back in terms of progress and success.

We will have to work on unemployment, illiteracy and poverty as these are the three things that are pulling us back from the path of achieving the name of developed country. But I am still proud to say that with so many drawbacks and negative points in the country, we are still know to be popular for “UNITY IN DIVERSITY”. I wish everyone here a very happy republic day and let us progress in the right path for achieving what our freedom fighters always wanted.

Good morning everyone!!!

On 15th August 1947, we have become the self governing country and that is the date on which we celebrate the Independence Day. But on 26th January, we celebrate the Republic Day of India. It was in the year 1950, 26th January, when our constitution came into force. I am very proud to announce that this is the 68th Republic Day celebration in Independant India.

The word Republic means the Supreme or ultimate power of all the people part of the country and it is the public which has got the complete rights to elect their leaders. They choose the politician of their choice as the leader of the country and they are responsible for leading the public in the right path. We are a Republic Nation as we have got the complete freedom to elect our own leaders like Prime Ministers, President and others as well. “Purna Swaraj”was the dream of our freedom fighters and they made sure that they achieved it for their future generations.

Our first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad said on this special day that : “We find the whole of this vast land brought together under the jurisdiction of one constitution and one union which takes over responsibility for the welfare of more than 320 million men and women inhabit it.”

We should now take this dream of our freedom fighters one step ahead and make sure that we become a developed country soon and specially a country with no crime and violence. Let us all work towards it.

We all gathered here to celebrate the auspicious and great Republic Day. This is the 68th Republic Day of our Independent India. This is definitely a great occasion for all of us. The reason why we celebrate our Republic Day on 26th January every year is, this is the day on which we have seen our constitution coming into force.

We are one of those democratic countries in the world, where the public has the complete freedom from electing our leaders. The president of our Independent and Republic country is Dr. Rajendra Prasad. From the day, we Indian have got freedom from the British government, we have moved ahead in the path of success and developed a lot. In fact, we are now being counted among one of the powerful countries in the world. Along with so many developments in the country, we also are able to see some kind of negative sides in the country like unemployment, poverty, illiteracy and corruption. Unemployment is one of the most important things that we need to fight these days. It is the duty of every leader, in fact every citizen to take pledge on working towards the negative sides in the country. This is how we will be able to make our nation the best.

But, we dearly love winter in spite of all its flaws. And there’s no way we’d let anything take that away from us. Besides, when it comes to skin care, there isn’t a single problem #Styleshaala can’t solve. So, sit back in your easy chair while we help you with your instant skin treatment in the easiest manner.

THE INGREDIENTS:

  • Oats (2 tsp)

Oatmeal is to the skin what rain is to the farmers. Oatmeal is a natural moisturizer, antioxidant, cleansing agent and the mildest ingredient for the skin. This is precisely the reason it is many a times used in the preparation of soap. It also helps in the treatment of dry skin and acne.

  • Milk (5 tbsp)

Milk has anti-aging and skin lightening properties. It plays a huge role in keeping the skin youthful and smooth.

THE PROCESS:

  • Mix the ingredients

Mixture: Take the ingredients in a bowl and mix it.

Milk quantity: Add the milk slowly while stirring the mixture. Avoid adding too much milk to the mixture.

Paste texture: The paste will be like a face scrub. Avoid the paste from getting very thin. The oat flakes will act as cleansing agents for the skin.

  • Apply the Paste:

Application Technique: Apply the paste evenly across the face. Keep your eyes closed and your hair tied back while you evenly spread the scrub across your face.

Massage: Gently massage the face to allow the ingredients to be absorbed into the deep pores of the skin. This will help get rid of the dead skin cells.

  • Leave the Paste on

Activity Time: Leave the paste on for 10 minutes. Let the pack dry till it can wither off the skin.

  • Remove the Paste

Paper towel: Soak a paper towel in water. Use the wet paper towel to remove the paste.

Technique: Move the towel gently across the face. Do not rub the towel harshly across the face to avoid rashes. Keep using the towel to wipe the face till the flakes have been removed.

Zari means Gold & Dosi means Embroidery. This technique dates back to the moghul era. Where the emperor & queens attires were stitched with gold threads. Thousands of painstaking hours would go into making one embroidered attire. Work as intricate as weaving a bird’s feather with machine like precision. Talk about epitome of fashion in those days, wearing Zardosi meant you belonged to a particular class of people. (only few could afford)

Once the Moghul era ended, this gold thread stitching work was replaced by other cheaper materials like cotton & soon came polyester. Also with the advent of agriculture & industrialization the technique itself became a rarity. Most of the Zari work done on sarees & carpets these days is by machine. Though world over places like Iran, parts of India, Pakistan & Bangladesh are seeing a sizeable workforce working on Zari products like Carpets & Sarees. In India most of the Zari work is done in Midnapur, Jhansi, Bareilly & Kutch.

One carpet takes any where between a few months to even a lifetime (based on the size) similarly a saree weaving with authentic threads and hand knotted takes a few months. These days lehengas are being used especially during weddings with Zari work on them. The difference between a hand made & machine made can be observed based on the work done. A machine made will have very precise stitch especially if you were to flip the cloth on the back of the design. A hand made Zari will have a certain weft to it.

Zari is just not left to carpets & sarees. It is also done on cushion covers & curtains. These products are exported to the US, Europe & the middle east.

The most prized possession for any Indian woman has to be her Saree collection. Without a doubt! These sarees have seen decades of styles go by but somehow they remain those classics that you just can’t get hold of anywhere around. What makes them even more special are those stories which binds our emotions. “Yeh wali mene yahaan pehni thi, woh waali mene wahan pehni thi” (I wore this here & that one I wore it there sort of stories)

In some families these are actually passed on from one generation to the other. Making these gems of styles even more special. Hence it’s important to know how our Sarees can be preserved and taken care of.

1) Silk Sarees:

We all are well aware of how delicate & (expensive) these sarees are. Some of us insist on buying them only from verified sellers. They have a sort of “Swag” factor (Kanjivaram, Banarasi the names equally heavy)

Care tips:

  • Only dry cleaning (we insist)
  • Do not hang them on metal
  • Opening & refolding them (every 3 months)
  • Keep them separate from other materials/sarees (Yes, they are VIP’s of Sarees)
  • Avoid spraying water while Ironing (ask your Istriwalla to follow the same)

2) Cotton Sarees

The most common of all Sarees. Cotton enjoys a certain charm about it. They are light & are easy to adorn. But the problem is that they wear out to easily compared to other types of Sarees.

Care tips:

  • Soak them for 15 minutes in warm water with rock salt (first wash)
  • Wash dark colors separately to avoid color bleeding
  • Do not keep it soaked in soap water for long
  • Once washed, do not twist/rinse these sarees too much (it’s a natural fabric not rubber band)
  • Hang it on a tap or over basin, let the water drip away
  • Lastly, starch your cotton sarees after wash so that it remains crisp!
  • Dry it under shade & not direct sunlight

3) Georgette Sarees

One of the most common Sarees. Georgette is your everyday friend. It will take on whatever comes it’s way. But still there are certain rules that governs a georgetter if you plan to use your favorite again & again.

Care tips:

  • Since they are prone to tearing avoid rinsing them in a hard manner
  • Let the water drip slowly instead
  • Do not use metal clips or clips with sharp teeths on them (use multiple baby clips)
  • Do not hang them in your wardrobe for long

3) Zari Sarees
